Umbraco Agency Australia: Umbraco Development, Upgrades and Support

Since 2013, Digiwhiz has delivered 100+ Umbraco projects for Australian organisations, from new builds and version upgrades to complex migrations and long-term support. Our in-house .NET developers have worked through every major version change, so your project starts with experience, not guesswork.

Umbraco 13 support ends on 14 December 2026. If your website runs Umbraco 13 or older, Digiwhiz, your digital growth partner, can plan and deliver your upgrade to Umbraco 17 before security patches stop, with your content, integrations and Google rankings carried across.

What Does Umbraco Development Actually Involve?

Umbraco is an open-source content management system built on Microsoft .NET. Umbraco development covers planning the content model your editors will use, building the front end, connecting your other systems and keeping the platform upgraded and secure throughout its version lifecycle.

It suits organisations with complex content, multiple brands or languages, Microsoft-based systems, or an existing Umbraco site that needs upgrading or a new support partner. Because our development and SEO teams work together, URL structure, redirects and schema are planned alongside the build, so upgrades and rebuilds do not cost you rankings.

How Digiwhiz Manages an Umbraco Project

Every Umbraco project follows the same structured process. You see the scope and price before work starts, and nothing goes live until it has been tested on a staging site.

01. Free Umbraco Health Check

We review your version

,packages, custom code, integrations and content model, and confirm your exact end-of-life date.

02. Scope and Fixed-Price Proposal

You receive a clear plan

for your upgrade or build, with a fixed price and timeline, before any work begins.

03. Content Model and Design

We plan content types

, blocks and editor workflows, and you approve the design in Figma.

04. Build or Upgrade on Staging

Our developers work

on a staging site, rebuilding custom extensions, migrating retired features and updating packages.

05. Testing and SEO Checks

Every page

, editor and integration is tested, and redirects, schema and Core Web Vitals are checked before launch.

06. Go-Live, Training and Support

We launch

in a low-traffic window, train your editors and stay on for ongoing support.

The Umbraco Versions Digiwhiz Works With

Umbraco releases a Long-Term Support (LTS) version every two years, with shorter Standard-Term Support (STS) versions in between. Where your site sits decides what your project involves.

Umbraco 17 (Long-Term Support)

The current LTS version, released 27 November 2025 and supported until 27 November 2028, built on .NET 10. Umbraco 17 is our recommended target for every new build and upgrade. Umbraco 18, a Standard-Term release from June 2026, has a much shorter support window and suits only projects that need a specific new feature.

Umbraco 13 (Support Ends 14 December 2026)

The previous LTS version. After 14 December 2026 it receives no further security patches. Upgrading to 17 involves rebuilding custom backoffice extensions and moving content from retired features, such as Nested Content and macros, to Block List or Block Grid.

Umbraco 7, 8 and 10 (Out of Support)

Umbraco 7 and 8 run on the older .NET Framework and cannot be upgraded in place, so they are rebuilt on Umbraco 17 with content migrated across. Umbraco 10 reached end of life on 16 June 2025 and should be upgraded now.
